Flat River Farms Flower Gardens

Flower Gardens             Veggie Gardens
Herb Gardens                               Medicinal Garden

We took to growing daylilies a couple of years ago, and started with what is called your 'ditch or outhouse' lily. It quickly became a fascination.

At last count we had about 35 varieties growing in various flower beds around the property. They add considerable beauty and a new perspective to life. You can find photos from our daylily gardens here.

We have found that the daylilies grow quite well in any soil. In soil that isn't suitable for ANYTHING else. We grow them in rocky clay soil here in the Carolinas, in the same location as our veggie beds that required more amending than I care to think about.

They are a blessing in many ways. Full of life and color when everything else is either green or brown and the landscape is colorless. The also require almost NO maintenance unless you want them too. :)

Varieties we currently grow are:

King Lamoni
Stella Supreme
Stella d'Oro
Edge Ahead
Joan Senior
Pardon Me
Eenie Allegro
Louise Manellis
Golden Ruffles
David Kirchoff
Buttered Popcorn
Ming Toy
